Attributed to Guido Reni (Italian, 1575-1642) - Two nativity scenes: Christ in the Manger and The Adoration of the Magi, both oil on canvas, both stretchers inscribed in pencil: 'Signed Guido', possibly by the restorer at the time of relining, 33 x 51 cm each, gilt framed as a pair. Provenance: together with a signed document stating these paintings were acquired by proprietor by decent and previously belonged to a fine art dealer from Retford, Nottingham. They are believed to be by the artist attributed.

Evidence of restoration and relining. One painting with a puncture and vertical tear approx. 4 cm long to the canvas as well as small patch of loss to the paint. The other painting has a horizontal tear approx. 4 cm long as well as other restorations.

Splash stain to the face of the canvas upper right side, visible in the photos.
