Randall Davey (American, 1887-1964) - Landscape view with buildings, oil on canvas, signed lower left, bearing indistinct pencil inscription to the stretcher and two labels from picture framers and shippers based in New York, 61 x 76 cm, framed. Randall Davey was an American painter known for his vivid landscapes and portraits. A student of Robert Henri at the Art Students League, he was initially linked to the Ashcan School but later developed a more expressive style. In 1919, Davey moved from New York City to Santa Fe, New Mexico, where the landscape and wildlife became central to his work and his home is now a museum there. Davey’s art continues to be celebrated for its bold use of colour and connection to the American Southwest.

David Bouquet, London A rare silver clock-watch with alarm Circa 1660-1665. The 8cm diameter gilt-brass dial has a silver chapter ring read from a tulip-shaped blued steel hour hand on the engraved silver alarm disc. The gilt-brass top plate is signed D Bouquet London with silver rosette-engraved countwheel and a similarly engraved mainspring silver disc and (later) balance wheel regulation disc, the balance cock is pierced and engraved and is now secured with a blued steel screw. The movement has gilt-brass circular plates secured by four engraved vase-shaped pillars, verge escapement, engraved going barrel for the strike train with a single steel hammer striking the hours on a large bell, a smaller spring barrel powers the alarm train. The silver case has three shuttered winding holes in the base and the band is pierced and elaborately engraved with flower heads and a pair of hounds chasing a stag, the top and tail of the case is further engraved with a fine bearded man’s head. The outer tooled leather protecting case has a faded red velvet lining and brass fittings. 9cm. diameter silver case 10cm diameter outer protecting case Provenance By family repute the watch was originally owned by Sir Matthew Hale (1609-1676), and thence by descent through the same family to the present day. Matthew Hale was an influential barrister and judge who served throughout the reigns of Charles I, Oliver Cromwell and King Charles II. He was also a member of Parliament for Gloucestershire. DAVID BOUQUET David bouquet senior d. 1665 was an exceptional watchmaker of French heritage. He was admitted to the Clockmakers’ Company in 1632 and is recorded as being an Assistant to the Clockmakers’ Company until 1665. Examples of his watches exist in the British Royal Collection, the British Museum and the Clockmakers’ Company Collection, Science Museum.

Interlinked Rings, N•HAMP•S / MASSASCHS / CONNECT•T / R•ISLAND / N•YORK / N•JERSEY / PENNSILV / DELAWARE / MARYLAND / VIRGINIA / N•CAROLIN / S•CAROLIN / GEORGIA. A Central Ring, AMERICAN CONGRESS• / WE ARE ONE. This 1776 Continental Dollar piece offers a rare and significant opportunity for collectors to acquire one of the few examples in American numismatics that prominently features the pivotal year of 1776, marking the birth of the United States. The initials 'EG' in 'EG FECIT' ('EG made this') are attributed by Eric P. Newman to Elisha Gallaudet, c.1730-1805. While the intended purpose and specific origin of these pewter pieces remain uncertain and whether indeed originally intended as a coin or medal, they are traditionally and widely regarded as the first series of American Dollar coins. This example is understood to be totally fresh to the market, having been recently discovered in a local property, unearthed from an old toffee tin containing a collection of jewellery, object d’art and curiosities, believed to have been sealed and essentially forgotten about for decades.

Important 17th century yellow metal posie ring set with turquoise, inscription possibly relating to Deuteronomy 32:11 - (Like an eagle that stirs up its nest and hovers over its young) (see photographs), size N/O, 9g. Owned by Sir Matthew Hale SL (1 November 1609 – 25 December 1676). The ring has been in the same family ownership to date. Hale was a highly influential barrister and judge during the reigns of King Charles I, Oliver Cromwell and King Charles II. He was due to represent Charles I at his State trial, however the King refused to recognise the court's authority and represented himself. Cromwell appointed him 'Justice of the Common Pleas'. When Charles II returned to the throne in 1660 the King made him Hall 'Chief Justice of the King's Bench' and knighted him.
Attributed to Ablade Glover (Ghanaian, b.1934) - 'Kumase' (To the Earth), oil on canvas, signed lower left, bearing label inscribed 'Mr E.A. Glover, U.S.T., Kumase' verso, 50 x 61 cm, unframed. Provenance: This painting belonged to a gentleman who worked in the tobacco industry which led him to travel around the world - visiting African countries including Ghana.

Zenith: A gentleman’s scarce 1970’s automatic diver’s wristwatch, with luminous borders baton spacers and hands, date aperture at 4 o’clock position, with luminous yellow chapter ring, 42mm case, on original flexi strap.
A monumental pair of 19th century weathered composition stone garden urns, raised on associated plinth bases, the bowls of tapering form with high relief figural decoration flanked by scrolled handles beneath masks, over coiled serpent stems and stepped bases, (with some cracking / losses and frost damage throughout) 235cm high (combined) the bases 66 x 66cm. From the collection of a private North Cotswolds estate. Displayed in situ and sold from the rostrum in Wotton-under-Edge. Personal viewing ahead of sale on Monday 22nd July.
