About Us At Wotton Auction Rooms

With origins in Wotton-under-Edge stretching back to 1855 we are privileged to conduct business from this picturesque market town on the southern tip of the world-famous Cotswolds.

Formerly trading as Sandoe Luce Panes Fine Arts, based in the centre of Wotton for many decades, we moved to the Tabernacle chapel and Sunday school buildings which are so synonymous with both the identity of the town and our business in 1975.

We formally became the Wotton Auction Rooms so well known today when Philip Taubenheim assumed sole ownership of the business in 1991.

In the 30+ years that have followed, Philip has worked tirelessly to build and develop a business with customer service and care, honesty and integrity at the centre of everything we do – values which carry through our entire team, many of whom have been with us for many years, their agency and expertise growing and developing with the business.

This ethic of putting the client before all else sees us routinely welcoming instructions from now third or fourth generations of the same families throughout the wider Cotswolds and south west region, reflecting the trust and reputation we have been rewarded with following years of honest customer service.

As sole owner since 1991, Philip was joined in autumn of 2023 by Joseph Trinder as joint partner and owner of the business. Joseph trained with Philip at Wotton in the formative years of his career, first of all back in 2010 and spent several years at The Tabernacle before pursuing other opportunities to gain broader experience in the wider industry, going on to hold prestigious positions with some of the UK’s leading regional sale rooms in the ensuing years.  

The opportunity then came along for Joseph to return and partner with his mentor before ultimately assuming sole ownership of the firm in the years to come.
