After Sesshū Tōyō (1420-1506) - 'Long Scroll/Landscape of Four Seasons' , black and white print c.1900, bearing three-character inscription to the osaedake as well as a section of calligraphic text at the end of the scroll, presented in a wooden box with label inscribed 'Long Roll Landscape Painting by Sesshu (original preserved in the Family of Prince Mori)', as stated the original painting resides in the Mori Museum, Yamaguchi, Japan, and is documented in the book 'Long Scroll: A Zen Landscape Journey' ( Charles E. Tuttle Co., Inc., 1959), 15 metres long; 37.8 cm wide.
Toyo Sesshu's "Long Scroll" (or "Landscape of Four Seasons") is a 15-meter masterpiece of 15th-century Japanese ink painting. Depicting landscapes through the four seasons, Sesshu blends Chinese traditions with Japanese aesthetics using fluid brushstrokes and ink washes. The scroll’s depth and harmony reflect his Zen-inspired style and deep connection to nature.
There is a break/tear to the end of the scroll, before the print begins. approx. 5 cm wide.
